Thankful

"You should be thankful for food to eat and that you have a roof over your head." This is the phrase I often heard from my parents growing up.
As I was eating the turkey and trimmings this Thanksgiving, I couldn't help but look at the people around me. My mom and her husband were there, and Rick's dad and of course Rick and Paislee. As I watched my child eat her spaghetti o's as she opted out of the turkey, I couldn't help but to be thankful for love. Rick and I got married 4 years ago and we have been through many things together. We were together through the death of my dad, his mom, and his brother. We have been together through our child's birth and many medical problems she had to face. This Thanksgiving, as we were gathered around the table, all seemed wonderful. My child was eating and able to eat and not choke and we were all happy. I think that we get caught up sometimes in the so called "tough" moments of life that we never have time to reflect on the "great" moments in life. I am so thankful for many things in my life. I had opportunities that some children didn't have in life. I never had to worry about something to eat or a house to live in. My parents made sure it was there. When there were hard times, my parents never let it show. I want to do the same for my child. I am thankful that Paislee has wonderful doctors at LeBohneur and Vanderbilt that have helped her along the way through her life. I am thankful that we have a month off with no doctor appointments. I am thankful that my husband and I both have jobs and can give my child food to eat and a roof over her head. But most of all I am thankful for love. I have a wonderful family who I love dearly. I am thankful for my husband who has been there for me no matter how difficult his life was at the moment. I am thankful that I have a God that loves me more than anything. I am thankful that we have angels watching over us. And yes mom, "I am thankful I have food and a roof over my head."
