Oh Black Friday...

This logo has memories.(good and bad) I have seen the words Wal-mart since I was born. Matter of fact, my mom says my parents had to show me off to my dad's Wal-mart associates first when coming home from the hospital at birth. So being a Wal-mart manager's kid, I know all about Black Friday, heck in my house it seemed like Black December instead of Friday. My mom said that when we were little, my dad had to work to get ready for the day, so for one Thanksgiving we had hamburgers on the nice china. I admit I always got the cool toys, the toys that were in because my dad was with Walmart, but now that he has passed away, it is all me trying to fight the crowds. Actually I find it kinda fun.
So our Black Friday expedition began Thanksgiving night at 7:00 pm. Brenda and I (she is the only one up for the challenge) decided we were not old and we would take the challenge of an all nighter. So we left Dyersburg and headed to Jackson. We met and picked up my two nieces, Katelyn who is 15 and Hannah who is 11 (the newbie this year). We ate at Steak and Shake and created a game plan. Then we hit Walmart. The 10:00 sale we got everything we wanted. Oh yeah, Brenda got the sheets that everyone at every store was fighting for, and Katelyn got the Fisher Price trike, Hannah got numerous toys, and I went for a couple of toys and basketballs. We all met up in the middle of the store and checked out. Oh wait, my lovely nieces decided they needed hair ribbon. What? Black Friday and it is hair ribbon....and Katelyn needed socks. Ok, after this episode we had to regroup. First rule was if it is not Black Friday sale item, you may not get it. So we put our purchases into the Surburban (Thanks Brenda) and headed back into Walmart for the midnight sale. Now I admit, this one was a little more intense. We were headed for the wireless printers, after waiting now for an hour an a half they cut the clear plastic and it was on. I was so proud of Hannah for elbowing her way through 6 people (those basketball skills have paid off) and was getting one and I got one. Did I fail to memtion that Katelyn had left us with a guy from school that just happened to be there and was looking for "deals" she said. We have got to work on this training. So second rule, no boys allowed. Misson accomplished. Next we went to Target, Toys R Us, and Old Navy. Old Navy was a longer visit. The lines wrapped twice around the store, then we stopped at 4:00 in the morning for ChickfilA. We then went to Sams, Kmart, Bed Bath and Beyond, and Books a Million. So we came home at 8:30 am on Friday. We shopped for 12 hours straight. It was a blast. So now, it is officially the holidays. And dad, you would be proud of me, I have trained your grandaughters well and even smiled and said hi to the manager.
