Sleep study...help us all!

Sleep study....it was awful!! That is the only word I have for it. Paislee had to have one arranged by her pulmonologist. Vanderbilt has the kids go to a hotel for their sleep study instead of the hospital. I was talking it up. We get to stay in a hotel and it will be a fun girls night, yeah it was not that. We went early up to Nashville and went to the mall. We stopped at the Disney store and all the stores Paislee wanted to go to. I was trying my best to make sure she was tired. We then went out to eat that night before we had to check in. We had to stop at Target and got midnight snacks to bring with us.( well eight o'clock snacks)  I mean we were living it up! Oh I forgot we went to Krispy Kreme too for dessert and sent Daddy these pictures....

So we check in and get our ice in the bucket thinking we have this. Paislee pulls out the goldfish and the lemonade we bought at Target, we are lounging on the bed, no worries, best drs appointment ever......   An hour later the nurse comes in and it's all over. Let's say we have the dreaded "stickers" which we can not stand like EKGs have, there are wires everywhere stuck all over her including a canula in her nose. She has 2 belts holding all the wires and a cap over her head holding the others. She is crying as hair gel is applied and so many stickers. I was glad she was tired. Let's say, "you are so cool like a robot," saying didn't work. So lights have to be out, no TV and darkness... First off, I am thinking to myself, way to start a spring break and second I am thinking, maybe I need one of these. She is also videotaped which means I am videotaped. Yeah, awkward. I knew she would be hooked up to monitors. I researched sleep studies and all the monitors, but she even had one on her cheek to see if she gritted her teeth. It was way more than the average sleep study which I was not prepared for and I am sure she wasn't. Paislee went to sleep, no problem which was not a true night because she doesn't do that at home. She only woke up a couple of times. As for me, I went from bed to couch and couch to bed, trying to dodge the cameras. Then it was the wakeup call at 5:30 AM. Yes 5:30 AM.. Geez. So we wake Paislee up and her face is red from sleeping on it and she claims, "I didn't move at all Momma because I didn't want to pull these wires and they hurt me." So her whole side of her face has indentions from the wires because she has slept so hard on them.  So now all of us are thinking.... Was this truly a good sleep study? The nurse claims she woke up a lot even though she didn't move that much and also it took her a while to get into a true sleep. Of course, they really don't tell you that much. After taking the thirty something wires and stickers off her legs, cheeks, and head, The nurse asks, if she thinks we need to schedule another one?  When that question is asked and I see this face.....
I just say, oh I think this one will do. We pack up and drive home from Nashville early in the morning. So early my child says, "oh mommy we get to see the sunrise today," which, let me tell you she has never seen before unless it was because she had no sleep. Who knows what our results will be? Is it a bust? We have no clue. We look at the positive. We got to see the sunrise, stop at Starbucks early in the morning, pick up Sawyer from daycare and enjoy " free icecream day at Dairy Queen" and are so happy to be in our own bed tonight!!
