News never expected
Paislee went in for a dobutamine heart test on December 11. I thought this would be a routine test that we need to have done just to keep a check on her heart. Little was I prepared what lies ahead.... Here it is January 2 and I still find myself in denial. Paislee has a mass in her artery that goes to her heart. We knew last year that her heart had performed its on bypass which was a miracle in itself. The blood flow was still normal so we were thrilled that this was the only change. For a dobutamine test to the heart, Paislee is sedated and then this medicine is injected into her heart. It is given at 5 cc and then increased by 5 up to normal stress which is 150 to 200 cc. Paislee has an EKG before sedation, one during, one during med, and one after, and during the test she has her echos. The medicine was pumped in and the doctor had to stop at 20. Paislee made it to 150 for her last test. The doctor came and explained that she was not pleased with all her EKG results and that her heart had so much strain that her EKG looked like a fifty yr old man. So here we are. Cardiologists at Vanderbilt are working on a solution which includes surgery, we don't know what or how because this has never been seen or done before. We will know more the second week in January
